Washington, DC – Caroline Cunningham, President of the Trust for the National Mall, issued the following statement regarding the Senate’s confirmation of Jonathan Jarvis as Director of the National Park Service:

"The Trust for the National Mall is thrilled with the confirmation of Jonathan Jarvis as the new Director of the National Park Service.  We look forward to working with Director Jarvis to restore and improve the National Mall and continue the progress that we've made towards funding $400 million worth of deferred maintenance.  Director Jarvis has a strong history of leadership, especially in working with private-sector allies, and we are eager to partner with him to help make the National Mall the best park in the world."

The Trust for the National Mall is the authorized non-profit partner of the National Park Service with a goal to make the National Mall the best park in the world.  The National Mall is the nation’s premier national park suffering from over 30 years of neglect and dwindling resources.
