The Trust for the National Mall, National Park Service, DC Preservation League and the World War I Memorial Foundation will host the DC War Memorial Reopening Celebration on November 10th.

The DC War Memorial was built in 1931 to memorialize the local heroes who served in World War I.  The first memorial on the National Mall honoring war veterans, the DC War Memorial lists all 499 District residents who lost their lives in the war.  The Memorial and its grounds have been under restoration since August 2010. The project was funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, along with the Jefferson Memorial seawall restoration, which is nearly finished, and the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and landscape restoration, slated for completion in spring 2012.

The Trust for the National Mall is the official non-profit partner of the National Park Service dedicated to restoring and improving the National Mall. For more information on the Trust for the National Mall, please visit www.nationalmall.org.
