Stars coming to town to dedicate MLK memorial

A parade of musical icons, Hollywood stars and civil rights leaders will be coming to D.C. this month to salute the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. as the new memorial for the civil rights leader opens on the National Mall.
The celebrity co-chairmen of the event include Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Berry Gordy Jr., George Lucas, Jamie Foxx and Clarence Avant. Members of the King family will also have roles in events leading up to the dedication, along with Rep. Joe Lewis, D-Ga., Ambassador Andrew Young, the Rev. Al Sharpton, the Rev. Jesse Jackson, the Rev. Joseph Lowery, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, retired Gen. Colin Powell, Tommy Hilfiger, Tom Brokaw and Maya Angelou.
The official dedication will take place Aug. 28 in West Potomac Park, marking the 48th anniversary of the March on Washington and King's "I Have a Dream" speech. President Obama will speak at the ceremony as well.
