Screen on the Green -- D.C.'s universal favorite summer activity (OK, possibly in second place to complaining about humidity) returns to the National Mall Monday night with a screening of "In the Heat of the Night."
The 1967 Oscar-winning film stars Sidney Poitier as a detective who is first wrongly arrested for a murder in a racist Southern town, then grudgingly asked to help investigate.
The event is moving to a new spot this year. It's still on the Mall, but now it'll be centered between 8th and 14th streets N.W. instead of 4th and 7th. As always, go early so you can snag a good spot.
Bring blankets or ground-level camping chairs -- you'll have to collapse regular-size lawn chairs when the movie gets going. Pack a dinner, or keep your fingers crossed that the food truck flock will show up, and bring plenty of water, as Monday's expected to be hot.
