George Mason High will have a presence this weekend in the Audi/Best Buddies Challenge on the National Mall. 

The school’s Best Buddies chapter will compete in the Carl Lewis 5K Challenge Saturday that starts and ends at the Washington Monument. Maeve Curtin, Mason student and Best Buddies member, said the race starts at 8:30 a.m. with a post-run celebration. The celebration includes an awards ceremony where awards are given to the fastest runners and top fundraisers, and a dance party with Lauren Potter from Glee. 

All festivities on the mall will end by noon. 

Registration is free and anyone who raises more than $50 will get an event T-shirt. Runners can register at www.bestbuddieschallenge.org/va.
