A popular bike-sharing option will come to the National Mall. The National Park Service plans to allow bikes from Capital Bikeshare around the Mall next year.

There's no word on how many bikes will be allowed or exactly when.

The Park Service, up until now, has been worried the bike stations would interfere with the historical significance of its properties.

With more people cycling, D.C. and Arlington have opened 116 bike-sharing stations in the past year. In fall, another 32 will be added in the District and 30 in Arlington.
