A site of reflection and inspiration for all.
The Thomas Jefferson Memorial stands as a symbol of liberty and endures as a site for reflection and inspiration for all visitors. Despite being home to one of America’s most influential founding fathers, the Jefferson Memorial is perhaps most famous for the cherry blossom trees that surround it and the Tidal Basin which the memorial overlooks.
In keeping our promise to the National Mall, The Trust helped leverage more than $150 million in federal funds for restoration projects, part of which were used to repair the Memorial Seawall. The Trust is also managing the Cherry Tree Centennial Improvement Project at the Japanese Lantern on the Tidal Basin.
The importance of the cherry blossom trees has not been lost on the Trust, as we have launched a Cherry Tree Endowment campaign to ensure the trees’ maintenance and care in perpetuity.
