Message from the Honorary Chair
Dear Trust Friends:
I am delighted to serve as the Honorary Chair of the Campaign for the National Mall. Our family’s time spent in the Mall’s museums, monuments and green spaces provided us with many happy memories.
From the foot of the Capitol to the Lincoln Memorial, and from the Washington Monument to the Jefferson Memorial, the Mall is home to many of the treasures of America’s cultural history. The National Mall has been an important part of the American experience, as the site of the Martin Luther King’s ‘I Have a Dream’ speech, the inauguration of every American president since Thomas Jefferson, and my favorite event, the National Book Festival.
The National Mall is a wonderful gathering place for all Americans. And we all have a shared responsibility to ensure that this iconic place properly reflects our national pride.
I am proud to share with you the highlights of the Trust’s 2011 activities.
Mrs. Laura W. Bush
